The Helsinki Cathedral is an Evangelical Lutheran cathedral and once the seat of the Diocese of Helsinki. Set in the centre of the city, the church was built as a tribute to the Grand Duke, Nicholas I, Tsar of Russia.
One of Tamperes best-known landmarks, Nasinneula commands outstanding views all around. Even the lift to the indoor terrace is an adventure, as it moves at six meters per second.
The old church at Petajavesi was built between 1763 and 1764 as a village church in the parish of Jamsa. However, the dedication did not take place until 1778.
