Valletta One of the most concentrated historical areas in the world, the City of Valletta in Malta, has some 320 monuments all spread over an area of 55 hectares. These historical sites are a lovely scene for taking nice photos and dating back to the periods when Malta was ruled by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, and later the Roman, Byzantine and Arab empires.
The Hal Saflieni Hypogeum in Valetta is a major tourist destination that represents a huge subterranean structure excavated circa 2500 BC. Historians claim that it was originally a sanctuary, later to become a necropolis.
